Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was pushed into a canal in Newbury on Tuesday (17th November).
At around 5.20pm, a 16-year-old girl from Newbury was with friends in Victoria Park, close to the pond, when she was pushed into the Kennet and Avon canal.
PC Jon Smith, from Newbury police station, said: “This is a serious incident, which obviously could have been a lot worse. Fortunately, one of her friends was able to pull her out of the water.
“I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the park at the time who may have witnesses the incident.”

Gordon Bennett, falling in the river or being pushed in, probably by another sixteen year old, isn't exactly a serious incident. If her friend(s) were there to pull her out, no doubt they should be able to identify the culprit. If someone just walked up to her and threw her in, that's a different matter.

Given that the friends haven't identified the culprit & the police are seeking information, I'd say it was the latter. Wouldn't you?
