...of the roadworks in Newbury town centre.

Cheap Street and Market Street are expected to reopen to 2 way traffic later today (tomorrow at the very latest)

The Broadway Piazza (AKA the Lennon Piazza) will be complete by November 22nd, although the section to connect it into Northbrook Street won't be completed until February/March 2010.

WBC have confirmed that Newbury town centre will be a "roadwork free zone" over the Christmas period.

It's been such a long time, I've forgotten what a "roadwork free zone" was like! I'm still almost expecting a last minute change, and a further six month closure of Cheap Street.

Don't worry, it all cranks up again in February. Seen the traffic by the Broadway in the mornings? Must be costing our recession-hit businesses millions in lost time.

Not entirely true ...... SGN have started to dig up Bartholomew Street AGAIN because they "FORGOT" to do a connection.  Don't you just luvv 'em.  In fairness to WBC, I have had discussions with them, and they have requested that SGN do the works on Sunday's/Monday's.  They have also apparently agreed to "contain" their vehicles in the smallest possible space. :-/
