OK Mr Muddle you are probably being subsidised by your employer for travelling costs. Us mere mortals have to think twice about where we fill up. At Morrisons in Reading, unleaded is currently 128.9p per litre. That is 6p per litre cheaper than ALL garages in Newbury. On a 50 litre tank that is a saving of £3.00.

Now there is no sense in me driving to Reading just to fill up, but why is there such a massive discrepancy?

No subsidies here....unlike Mr Benyon, who notches up 100 miles a week in his car @ 40p a mile.

Newbury's issue with fuel prices made it on to South Today this morning - perhaps it will have some effect.  The theory given was that supermarkets set the local price and, apparently, we don't have a cost cutting supermarket.

Yes it did, Sainsbury put an extra 1p on a litre !!
