I am finding user23 unbearable at the moment, on this forum and on Newbury Today. Just in the last few minutes he has chosen to contradict an accurate posting by Blackdog on the correct address for the Hogshead.
His thought processes seem contrary to all reasonable logic. |

The thought process is:
WBC moved the taxi rank to the Wharf.
Now this was sensible for the day time as it gives full pedestrianisation to the Market Place. However they didn't really think of the evenings where it would be better to retain the Market Place rank as well, as the area will be open to vehicles anyway!
Therefore WBC have made a booboo and User has to discredit every little point people make. He then believes everyone will think WBC must have been correct all along!

User23 is simply a wind-up merchant. |

I pointed out the difference between the postal address "Market Place" and the area known as the Market Place as there seem to be some confusion.
The Hogshead pub is quite clearly in the area known as the Market Place.
I think we both accepted we were being pedantic. |

Yes and diverted the question why the council, illogically, moved the taxi rank from the Market Place? |

According to the Hogs Head website, it is in Wharf Street http://www.hogsheadnewbury.co.uk/find-us/Hogshead, Newbury 1–3 Wharf Street Newbury Berkshire RG14 5AN
How dare you suggest the main man at WBC could be wrong? Come in get a grip. |

Think I covered this one, above. The Hogshead is in the area known by most as The Market Place. I'm guessing everyone being pedantic about this doesn't get out a lot in town. |

If really want to get pedantic about postal addresses, see if you can find any business in Newbury with the postal address "The Market Place". |

None with "The Market Place" though. So if you're being pedantic and sticking to postal addresses as some seem to be, "The Market Place" doesn't exist. We all know in reality that's the favoured term to refer to the area in question though. |

I'm not being pedantic though, I've said all along that the incident happened in Wharf Street (which it did). |

Should read "We all know at the WBC Office, for this argument, that's the favoured term to the area in question though" Or as traditionally known the taxi rank in The Market Place. |

There is logic here. It is designed to disrupt any discussion that is against WBC. His main approach is to divert by picking on irrelevant points and then refuting them. If that doesn't work, he repeats the same thing again (it must be true if its said enough) or picks on another. When that doesn't work he stops any further discussion. The trouble is that this approach is simply a response to others. He very seldom adds to the value of the discussion. I would like to contribute more to these boards but I find User23 tiresome. I would be happier to post more if there was reasoned argument not simply point scoring from him. |
