Liquid nightclub in Market Street closed early on Friday night, following a violent skirmish in which a man suffered head wounds after being struck by a bottle. Police dispersed a large number of people from the area and there were further arrests for disorder in the town centre.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of GBH. A 24-year-old man from Reading has been released on bail until 19 August; a 19-year-old man from Newbury has been released on bail until 17 August and a second 19-year-old man from Newbury has been released on bail until 1 September.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses.

We should think ourselves lucky really.. This sort of rumble occurs every couple of hours at clubs (often within a hundred metres of each other) in some city centres across the country. This disturbance seems thankfully to be a bit of a one-off
