The Lib Dem tellers have been refusing voters entry to the Waterside Centre polling station without their polling card.

They are NOT allowed to do this. A complaint from the Apolitical Democrats has been logged with the Returning Officer and the Lib Dem agent.

Voters have an absolute right to turn up at the polling station and state their name and address inside the polling station.

Also you do NOT have to even speak to the Lib Dem activist on the door let alone tell them your name or polling number!

Time for the officers to grow a spine and take action against the various breach or rules that have been taking place. Still, I won't count on it!!!

You mean to imply they have to obey rules? Why should they start now? Bit late for that surely?

What a strange thread.

One political party using the website of an independent candidate to knock another party, and another political party moaning about the council.

What a strange (and naive) post.

Naive?

'lacking worldly wisdom':  I don't see why you should think it strange that an open forum that happens to be hosted by a candidate should have a thread like this, but then I shouldn't have thought it strange that you should post in the way that you did, either.

If you don't see, perhaps it's you that's 'lacking worldly wisdom'.

I'll word it in a way that perhaps you might understand.  This is an open forum, but a forum that focuses on events and topics concerning the Newbury area. There is therefore, nothing strange that someone might create a thread based on alleged bad behaviour of a member for a local political party.  The fact this forum also happens to be hosted by someone who is standing in the current local election as an independent is irrelevant (in my view).  I think it therefore, naive of you to find this s strange phenomena.

If you insist that this is strange, then please explain why?

You've got the supposed 'worldly wisdom' so I'll ask you a question.

Is it within the rules that candidates need to abide by?

Whatever his party Charlie, is right - you DO NOT need a card to vote, it just speeds things up.

I am naive about many things, but the lack of knowledge of the finer points of electoral law is something I am not embarrassed about.

Now why is this thread 'strange'?
