Last chance to clear your library account at reduced rates!
West Berkshire Council Libraries fines cap will be coming to an end on the 31st May so anyone who owes money or has books or other loans which are long past their due date is urged to visit a library as quickly as possible.
Many lapsed library customers have already taken advantage of the cap on library fines of £8 for adults and £4 for children and have saved significant sums of money. Many have also started to use the library again as there are no longer any overdue charges on children’s books and borrowers are reminded about loans being due back before they go overdue.
The last day when the fines will be capped is 31st May after which the library service will be introducing a recovery system for late items and full fines. A £10 surcharge will be levied on any account which is referred to the recovery service.
Hilary Cole, West Berkshire Executive Councillor for Cultural Services said: “I am very pleased that this initiative has been a success and has brought people back to the library service. I would urge anyone who still owes money to visit their library before the end of the month and take advantage of the special offer”. |
