They wanted it 2 floors higher as well.
Then they (the council) moan about the height of the telephone exchange
I bet Griffin towers gets built in Kings Road as well. Isn't the Faraday Plaza going to be of similar height? |

Good old 'perspective'...... The developers favourite when it comes to artist's impression of scary new buildings.... In one view you're looking down on the thing and it doesn't look quite so threatening (the developers favourite) and in your photo you're looking up it's nose....  This view shows it as being on 8 levels (as per the photo and earlier artists impression) but again perspective lets the tower look small coz it's at the far end of shot |

Any building which survives for 600 years will be prized.
All medieval castles had to have a license. Still did not make them anything other than purely functional buildings built with no concession to aesthetics. |

I suggest the impotence to the King was greater than the importance of a bloody shopping mall to Newbury today. Contrary to your opinion, I'd be staggered if this current shopping carbuncle is still standing in 600 years time. |

I think if it did survive more than 150 years it would become a well regarded local building. Surving that long would increase its chances of surviving much longer. Problem is I don't think architects build with this in mind. They design down to cost. The result is little what we would call 'classical' architecture. |

I have to agree with you here, but I understand that materials are recyclable. As building requirements change, this is understandable. |
