I don't have these problems, so I'm not sure there is.

I expect User has been having a word with them on behalf of WBC as he thinks there is no one wants to complain about the CCTV?

My posting was subsequently removed (very quickly) and my account was then disabled. Has anyone else had similar problems?

The best way to avoid being deleted from any of the local forums is to post with a sensible name and register with a genuine email address.

If you look at our recent members listing, you will find that there are a multitude of peculiar names, none of which have a genuine email address. All of these will soon be purged.

NWN was the subject of a pornographic posting recently, which is not a good image for a local newspaper.

If you feel that your removal was not justified, I suggest that you email the editor editor@newburynews.co.uk

Crikey, you go away for a a fortnight, and look what happens...

Ah well, back to the topic (kinda)

Of the 120 (approx) cameras that we used to have monitored, 40 (approx) are now being monitored in Windsor.

The recording quailty there is much better using the digital system, alas, the picture quality being sent down the line is worse. This is because Councillor Stanfield failed to understand the difference between optical and digital zooms and the limitations of the later. (how long before he claims he was 'duped')

The system has been being tested over the last few weeks.

Here's the interesting bit..

Although it would seem that certain people have been busy saying that it's all 'up and working' The implication being that the town is being watched, alas, this is not so.

The system is actually not 'going live' until Monday 14th Feb. So, another weekend with little or no monitoring then.

And obviously because of this, there is no recording of the recent incident in Bartholomew Street. It might still go live on Monday, but compared to the old system will be totally useless.

Yet still the council are refusing an investigation? The spin is still on saying everything is working and they have reduced costs? Even an idiot would know that they could have saved even more by scrapping the system rather than having to pay for a system that is next to useless?

Just what do the council have to do before there is an investigation into what they are doing?

But WBC have cut costs that is the most important issue? They fail to understand if you are getting something that is worthless and it is costing you money then that is actually not saving anything?

The only people that are saying everything is OK with the system is WBC even some of their own staff and contractors have admitted things are definitely not right; oh and of course Lord Haw Haw alias User .
