Absolute chaos there this morning!

They are working on both sides of the bridge. A huge lorry parked in the middle of the road. Workmen wandering around like lost souls. Total lack of supervision. I would hate to be a shopkeeper in that part of the town.

How long before they finish?

These are supposed to be finished on 29th October. The noise this morning is horrendous, but I have to say the guys working on the bridge have accomplished so much this week and are actually backfilling trenches outside Hethertons - its a shame these guys didn't work on the entire contract - they would have been long gone.

To add further misery to shops and businesses in Bartholomew Street, temporary traffic lights are to be introduced on Blackboys Bridge to enable Southern Gas Networks to continue their existing work into the approaches to the bridge.

The traffic lights at the Pound Street junction will be suspended for the duration of the works.

(Spelling never seems to be a strong point for Newbury signwriters)
