I will answer it, I'm just a bit concerned that the council won't let me prepare an alternative budget. Maybe you could have a work for me???

Why on earth should the council encourage you to prepare an alternative budget?

As for the Save Victoria Park group on facebook - its pretty obvious who started it - his name and picture are on almost every post.

Surely this what he 'Big Society' is about.  It encourages people who have skills to use them.  If parents can run their own schools, surely others who have the skills can prepare an alternative budget.  Councillors are not trained to their job, they are butchers, bakers and candle stick makers.  An alternative budget may throw up ideas that the council has not thought of.

Why?  It is one way of monitoring who goes on certain sites.  Not all sites or video's are as innocent as this one.  You can always delete your 'membership' after use.

Let's face it, the "Big Soicety" is all about cutting Government support and saving money, and basically asking community groups to do it all themselves. I don't want to be part of it, I'd rather be part of the Good Society. There's only one sort of person who will be better off under any Tory Government, and I'm not rich enough to be in that group of people.

I was trying to point out the ridiculousness of the Big Society, Con/Lib government say all get involved, do you what you can, take responsibility blah, blah.  But you have the same parties councils saying you cant do it.  What it comes down to is when we now complain about schools etc., we will be told it is our fault as the responsibility now rest with us.  This is also why a coalition government will not work.  Come the next election each party will be blaming the other and absolving themselves of responsibility.

This is why it is highly important that we provide a third option to the electorate. If anybody wants to fight these issues on a local basis, send me a pm and I will support you in your efforts to become an elected member.
