Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Nightingales Road, Newbury on Wednesday (4th August).

At around 1.30pm a delivery driver parked up his van whilst he was making a delivery to Ewing Way. On returning to his van he heard someone shouting at the side of him, when the driver looked out the window he saw two men looking through his passenger window. One of the men shouted ‘give me your money’ and was shaking his fist at the driver in an aggressive manner.

He then demanded that the driver of the delivery van handed over his goods from the van. The male then tried to open the van door and the van driver drove off.  Nothing was stolen from the van.

One of the offenders is white, aged 17-19-years-old, 5ft 10ins, slim build with short light brown hair. He was wearing a black bomber style jacket and black jeans.

The second offender, who was standing at the side of the van, is white and was wearing a grey hooded top.

Anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries should contact Det Con Greg Hulse at Newbury police station via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to talk to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
