Seems it may be Primark not M&S

Just got this weeks Advertiser through the door & according to Newbury Weekly News there are rumours that it will be Primark.

PRIMARK STAY TIGHT LIPPED OVER NEWBURY RUMOURS

RETAIL giant Primark has refused to rule out claims that it could be opening a store in Newbury.
A planning applicattion by F and C commercial property holdings listing alterations for a class A1 retail unit at the site of the former Borders Bookshop at Newbury retail Park has been approved by West Berkshire Council.

For many months rumours have circulated across social networking site Facebook and the newburytoday.co.uk forum that the big name clothing retailer was about to open it's first store in Newbury.

A spokeswomen for Primark, Kate Lehan, Said that the companies response was "no comment" but refused to deny the claims.

F and C commercial has so far not been drawn on who could be moving into the vacant lot, but the company's responsible investment report from 2009 states it does have links to Primark.

Basingstoke and Reading are the two areas closest to Newbury with Primark stores.

Borders Bookshop went into administration last year and it's Newbury store closed on December 22nd, leaving 17 staff to look for work over Christmas.
