Visitors to Shaw House on the 31st July & 1st August will be able to experience a small scale battle, sword training, and living history courtesy of Sealed Knot as members will be both inside and outside Shaw House over the weekend.
On both days Sealed Knot members led by the local Earl Rivers’ Regiment of Foote will be offering visitors the chance to find out about day to day life during the time of the Civil War. There will be demonstrations of pike, musket and sword drill, a skirmish each afternoon and lots of living history displays inside the house.
The weekend promised to be fun packed and there is something for all the family.
Shaw House is open 11am – 5pm all weekend. There are eight historic rooms to view with 'wheelie do' activity stations throughout the house.
In addition there is a permanent exhibition exploring the history of the house and the 2010 special exhibition ‘Tradition Says… Shaw House and the Civil War’ plus you can spoil yourself with a tasty treat from the Shaw House café located in the old kitchen.
