Does anyone remember the Newbury to Andover walks that we used to do annually back in the 60's/70's?
Alternate years were reversed...Can't for the life of me remember the purpose..may have been sponsored

Did they keep on going until they either got to Greenham airbase or even Aldermaston.

Every year Plonka! The Newbury to Andover route goes nowhere near Aldermaston or the Base
Or am I missing some wit here? No, not with a name like Brian...remember the Ad 'I wish I was clever like you, Brian!'

Childish name calling aside, if, as you say, the walk was reversed alternate years and started in Andover, the route could have been Hurstbourne Tarrant - Ashmansworth - Highclere - Greenham.

If it didn't go that way on the outward journey and the following year it was reversed-guess which way it came on the way back????
Blimey, that's a tricky one!

FF said, "it could", not that it did, nor that she claimed to know anything about it.  I have to say though, as for your OPs question and based on your attitude , even if I knew, I'd have difficulty on wanting to let you know.

Admin, while this person remains posting his vitriol as he does, I will not be posting on this forum until further notice.

Can we have one then please?

(Not just the partially educated, foul-mouthed, xenophobic, self-deluding  highly offensive silly-billy we seem to have got at the moment)

Don't let one rude person get under your skin. I have just dismissed him as an infantile name caller and am not really interested in what he has to say from now on. I see he has taken to baiting Brian B. who is usually good enough to let us get on with our irritating posters without interference. Anybody remember the Dr.... I forget his name who posted on here for a while. Makes dodgy look almost angelic in comparison. We also had some blinders during the Arboretum times. Ah, those were the days.

Do you mean they walked backwards?  I remember vaguely there was such a walk but I think it only happened twice or three times, there was also a suggestion by some 'twat-plonker-?-that it should be extended to a tripart event, Nby to Reading to Basingstoke to Nby but guess what, some numerate sod ruined that by pointing out that would be around 51 miles......................
