A visit to Santa reaches new heights this year
It's called 'Alpine Santa' and it's a great new way for kids to visit Father Christmas.
If parents bring their children to West Berkshire Council's Waterside Centre, Newbury, on Saturday 12 December between 11am and 3pm, they'll be able to watch them scale the activity centre's indoor climbing wall to be rewarded with a present from Santa, who will be perched atop the cliff-face in his Alpine grotto.
The idea takes the traditional pre-Christmas visit to new heights and combines the magic of the occasion with some organised fun. Children from the age of 5 can make the visit, and all will be safely secured by ropes with each climb being supervised by the Centre's qualified staff. Every child is guaranteed to reach Santa at the top, whatever their climbing ability, and their ascent will be guided by 'elves' to help make the occasion special.
West Berkshire Executive Councillor Barbara Alexander said: "This is an excellent idea combining some healthy exercise with seasonal fun."
There's no need to book, but children must be accompanied by parents or carers who can come along any time between 11am and 3pm on the day. The cost of the visit is £5 which includes a present, and all profits will go to help the youth activities provided by the Centre. |
