"Qualified individuals prepaid to donate their time"

Who might these be?

I would have thought that was a typo and meant to say 'prepared'.

Whether it is a typo or not I am not happy that certain individuals have wheedled their way onto this secret society for their own commercial gain.

Does anyone know how I can find out the financial contributions that these individuals/companies are making to gain access to the partnership?

Things that i find wrong with the TCP inclued
  • Elected council memebers as members of the TCP
  • The fact that they have influence on projects outside of the town centre

They are not covered by the FOI Act.
As the TCP is a Community Interest Company (since July 2009), if you did wish to complain to the CIC regulator, say about mismanagement/maladministration, or if you wanted the regulator to remove a particular director, you may find this useful.

This is the section that I'm not sure about. How many people are overseeing these projects, I thought the current overseer was Mrs Bale.
If there are people doing this in their professional capacity, (Architects for instance) do they report to the TCP. ??

Overseeing delivery of Newbury 2025 Vision
projects;
􀂇 Park Way
􀂇 The Wharf
􀂇 Market Place
􀂇 Cinema (due to open November 2009)

I particularly like the slide with 'Each member will have one vote' and 'Quorum of not less than 6 members entitled to vote'.

Are they all entitled to vote or not?

Facinating!  Seem to remember we used to have a somewhat similar system, rather less elaborate but just as 'democratic'.  Anyone remember Aldermen.

This still doesn't answer why on earth anyone should even waste their time bothering to vote in a Local Government election.

Meanwhile over in Reading, they've hatched a plan to spruce up empty shops during the Christmas shoppingfest.

Yes it's a great idea. I wonder if Wokingham Council will get one of their scouts out to whack them with paying full rates because of displaying goods in the window?

Alas, not a new idea.  Listeners to Radio 4 during the summer will already be aware of this scheme...

Why 'Alas'?  What's wrong with a good idea spreading?

Another scheme in Wokingham or Bracknell (can't remember which) handed an empty shop to local history/heritage groups to exhibit their research etc.  Another idea that it would be nice to see spread.

A similar project was discussed at a recent meeting of the Newbury Town Centre Partnership:

We couldn't know that could we. No minutes or publicity from them. Are you sure you're allowed to impart that information.
