Why not put it on YouTube?
An Elliot of Newbury wartime spitfire manufacturing film is held by the Wessex Film Archive, deposited with them by Newbury Liraray. I asked for permission to upload a copy to youtube. Their reply..... regret that we are not willing to grant permission for this film to be posted on YouTube. When this sort of material is made available on sites like this it is very much out of the custodian's control. Anybody can make copies, add rude remarks, re-edit and put on the web a version we might disapprove of, upset the original donors, make money out of it, etc. However, it would be possible for Wessex Film & Sound Archive to stream some extracts from the film on their website and I will ask that they do so. |
