They may want to sort their poster out for this event as the 13th of September is a Sunday!  My guess is somebody had a few too many ales when drawing this up

The only problem with this great event was that they ran out of beer/cider by the early evening.

I suspect they fear ordering too much and not selling it should the day be poor weather.  The 9%er went by about 15:00.

I thought the 12th. Strangely late, but who knows, with a bit of luck we'll have an Indian summer.

Based on my one and only visit, it did seem like a cafe that had a late licence. It also had a slight feeling of what I imagine one of those Good Ol' Boy's clubs you see in American films might be like.

The service was great and the prices good value but I expected something different than a shed with florescent lights serving value burgers. About 15 or 20 of us went there for a night out and I think everyone had a good time so I'm not knocking it.

Perhaps I found it strange due to my expectation, based on the name.

The closest I've been to that was like it was a couple of bars in Australia. Ironic for a "Taste of England".

I guess with any evening out, it depends on the company you're in........ but I couldn't help feel I "wasn't from round these parts"

I have found The Taste of England quite a friendly pub.

Since its revamp by the new owners it has a developed its identity as a local drinking establishment who serve traditional "pub grub" at reasonable prices.

The clientelle all seem friendly enough and they also have plenty of support from Darts and Pool teams.

As I said the service was good as were the prices. I just didn't expect an establishment called "A Taste of England" to be large florescent-tube lit shed, serving burger and chips for 4 quid a go.

Everyone had a good time and if it wasn't for the location I think we'd all go back.

As said before the new owners have only been there a short while and have spent a considerable amount of money to re vamp the place and change the image.
It is a much better place to go for a drink than many of the "local" establishments in Thatcham, if you want a good pint and none of the rather usual watering holes full of D*** H***s who frequent the regular places.

A pound? I think you might need to re-read the post.

I said burger and chips for 4 quid a go.
