I thought the 12th. Strangely late, but who knows, with a bit of luck we'll have an Indian summer.

Based on my one and only visit, it did seem like a cafe that had a late licence. It also had a slight feeling of what I imagine one of those Good Ol' Boy's clubs you see in American films might be like.

The service was great and the prices good value but I expected something different than a shed with florescent lights serving value burgers. About 15 or 20 of us went there for a night out and I think everyone had a good time so I'm not knocking it.

Perhaps I found it strange due to my expectation, based on the name.

The closest I've been to that was like it was a couple of bars in Australia. Ironic for a "Taste of England".

I guess with any evening out, it depends on the company you're in........ but I couldn't help feel I "wasn't from round these parts"

I have found The Taste of England quite a friendly pub.

Since its revamp by the new owners it has a developed its identity as a local drinking establishment who serve traditional "pub grub" at reasonable prices.

The clientelle all seem friendly enough and they also have plenty of support from Darts and Pool teams.
